Landlord at Syracuse senior apartment complex threatens eviction after tenant complains

Anthony Bibbs, 64, is a tenant at McCarthy Manor in Syracuse. He said the management threatened to evict him after he complained to code enforcement about the complex’s leaking roof.

“Anthony Bibbs says he’s facing eviction at McCarthy Manor because he complained to the city’s code enforcement office about problems with the senior housing complex roof and questioned a rent increase.”

Anthony’s experience is a perfect example of why we need Good Cause Eviction in Syracuse — to protect tenants from being evicted when they report unsafe living conditions to Code Enforcement or ask that a landlord make basic repairs to a unit.
